back on my feet

Hi! I'm new on this website which I came across on facebook...when I saw it was about running I thought "WOW...that's definitely my place!" as running is the thing I'm most passionate about..I used to be a good marathon runner and overzealous in my work outs, I had that sort of self-destructive good will which eventually  took a toll on my legs and mood so that I finally decided I would hang up my sneakers...yet t this idea was always sort of drilling into my head..I wanted another marathon! I struggled for years but now it seems I've finally managed to get back on my feet (and in my running shoes!) and I'm currently prepping another marathon...there are days I feel like the good athlete I used to be and others when I feel completely maxed out...I'm still struggling, but running marathons is the thing I'm most passionate about and I just don't wanna let it go, I will always fight for it...I'd like to get in touch with other people who share my same passion for running and trade opinions and tips on work outs, shoes, and why not...some moral support too!

Traxee user bmoore Oh yeah, rest is so incredibly important in training. In fact, its critical to performing at peak and running for a lifetime without injury. We are all so Type A and we tend to use our training as a "proving ground" - for ourselves, to ourselves. If just resting drives you nuts, check out some "active rest" like doing an easy paced trail run - which helps you activate those muscle fibers not normally used in our regular training. It not only solves the "off day jitters," but can make you a better runner overall. Traxee user Grisou Yes, I stopped running because of my left Achille's tendon...but also my right quad was giving me a hard time, it tended to get stuck...I haven't run for 3 years but my last marathon dates back to 2005...now I've learnt that I gotta listen to the signals of my body and if it says to me that it feels tired I'll rest and won't add a few more kms to my already hard work out routine on the idea that if I feel tired it's because I'm too weak!!

Traxee user bmoore Well Grisou - you've come to the right place! Was it injury that made you hang up your shoes? How long has it been since you trained?
