Newbie (sort of)

I have such an overwhelming desire to run, but I suck at it. Due to an injury in jr. high, I have a strange gait.  I'm over that now though.  I used to be very self concious as I look like Quasimoto when I run.   I'm doing C25K.  I'm on week 2.  Two years ago I got up to week 8 but quit due to extreme cold weather.  Any other C25Kers out there?  I am open to any tips.  I currently work an evening schedule so I usually go out around 10am.  I don't eat before hand.   I'm in west TX.

Thanks,

a

Traxee user Annelyse Hey Hockeymom, how are you doing? You haven't posted for several days, I hope that means that you have just been too busy to get online and not to go running! Just stick with it and you will get where you want to be. Keep us posted too, enquiring minds and all, Annelyse

Traxee user Annelyse Humidity is tough to run in. I hear Texas has a lot of humidity. I understand wanting to go farther and faster than you are ready for yet, but I would say set your goals for the week and decide in advance how far you will run during the week. Allowing a little flexibility of course, for a day that might be more humid or hotter or sleepier, whatever. Make sure you stay hydrated, as well. Take care and I'll be thinking of you on Friday, Annelyse

Traxee user hockeymom3229 Hey Annelyse, thanks for thinking about me. I got out and did my thing today. It was very humid so it was a little more difficult. I am impatient and want to advance faster than my body is allowing me to. I find it frustrating to say the least.

Traxee user Annelyse How are you doing today, hockeymom? I got up and taught my running camp this morning but you inspired me to run more afterwards, so I ran an extra 3 miles today. Thanks for motivating me.

Traxee user Mommyruns3 Hi! I wanted to start running back in the fall of 2009, but was so afraid of people 'seeing' me run, that I kept putting it off. I kept waiting on baby weight to fall off to which didn't happen, lol. So in April, I finally sucked it up and started running. And I for sure have never looked back! I love it! Stay postive girl :)

Traxee user Annelyse Hi hockeymom3229. I live in California and I have been running for 20 years. Currently, I teach a running camp for beginners and early intermediates. I would be happy to give you any help that I can. Please feel free to contact me. My very first piece of advice is to be careful with the things you say because the negative self talk has a lot of power. You don't suck. You may have a challenge with your gait but you are out doing it anyway. Keep up the good work and stay positive.

Traxee user bmoore You're awesome. Nobody sucks at running - we're all just made differently with different physical attributes, pace, ability, genetics...I get goosebumps when I read "I have such an overwhelming desire to run." I wish you tons of support on your C25K!
