Is it bad to run in cross trainers?

I just started running and I'm using my Saucony crosstrainers since I just bought them and I don't have any running specific shoes. I'm mostly walk/jogging about 3 or 4 times a week, building up slowly from there. I plan to eventually buy shoes meant just for running but I'm hoping to use my current ones for a year or so. Thoughts?

Traxee user bmoore Don't do it! It is incredibly important as a new runner to start in a decent pair of shoes made specifically for running. Doing otherwise you run the risk of injury as you increase your mileage. I know money can be tight right now, however a lot of the stores are running sales on popular models. You should be able to pick yourself up a pair of decent shoes for about $65.00.
