Questions for experienced runners

My first Mini-Marathon is less than two weeks away. May 2, 2009 to be exact.  In good old Indianapolis, Indiana!  It kicks off a month of fun events around the City ending with the Indy 500.  I feel like I have a good feel for the race, training is going well and I have completed a 15K 3 weeks ago.  My question is for all those runners that have ran long distances during thier cycle.  I hate to bring it up but...I believe I will be having my cycle during my mini-marathon.  Is there anything extra I need to do to prepare for this i.e drink certain fluids, eat more protein...???  Thanks for any advice or suggestions anyone can provide.

Traxee user bmoore There was a great article at Traxee about a month ago at http://www.traxee.com/posts/704-how-your-period-effects-your-training. I do a Magnesiumcsupplement (make sure you get a good one) from Peter Gillham. It's called "Natural Calm Plus Calcium" and it totally reduces symptoms of bloating, cramping and PMS. I get it BAD! Anyone else?
