There are so many great women-owned running lines!  Are you ready to veer off the big, Oregon-based manufacturer path (no names, please) and help support some of these terrific, smaller gear companies? Here are some of my favorite picks:

Oiselle

The Oiselle Roga shorts are a classic.  These are literally the most comfortable shorts I have ever worn.  Extremely light weight, low slung, with a wide waistband, the Roga has a lightweight liner, 4" leg and an integrated key pocket.  This season, Oiselle is doing an amazing color called Blue Moon.  Buy at Oiselle Running and select retailers.
 

Gracie's Gear 

The Gracie's Gear long tank is the solution for those of us who carry iPods, cell-phones, car keys, etc. while running.  This long tank has a built-in bra, cord-minder, and an exterior zip-up outer pocket that carries lots of stuff. Fabricated from soft, moisture release fabric that that moves heat and moisture away from the skin, Gracie's guarantees this tank won't ride up around your waist. Buy at Gracies Gear.

 

Skirt Sports

Really cute, comfortable (and somewhat controversial), running skirts have been hot  since SkirtSport founder and triathlete, Nicole DeBoom launched the company in 2005.  I have run in and loved the Marathon Girl skirt for several years. Running in a skirt is a different experience that takes a little getting used to, but once you do, you'll be hooked. The lightweight skirt hides a terrific slightly compressive panty from a fast-drying fabric and has a back pocket ample enough to hold your keys and a couple of gels.  Buy at Skirt Sports and select retailers across the country.

Terry 

I discovered Terry when I somehow got on their catalog mailing list.  Founded by mechanical engineer Georgena Terry in 1985, Terry enjoys a loyal following of women cycling enthusiasts who appreciate the companies bicycles designed for women's bodies.  "Fit, comfort and style"...that's Terry's philosophy.  So what's this got to do with running?  Well. lemme tell you, noone knows great gear like bicyclists.  Terry's Run, Tri Fitness line is totally awesome.  They don't actually manufacture the product found here, but they choose the best of the best from some popular fitness lines.  My favorite is the tight-fitting, compressive Trifit Racerback top from Zoot with a built-in bra, 10" front zip and Lycra and nylon construction for moisture-wicking comfort. Go to Terry's website for the entire selection.  Oh, and if you're getting serious about cross-training or tri events, the word on the streets is that Terry bicycles rule!
