A Runner's Recovery Diary : Day 38

Feeling the need to normalize,I got up at 5:30 AM, put on my reflective gear and decided to try a short 3 miler just to see what I could do.  I did use the eliptical machine yesterday in the gym, but really tried to focus on core and upper body work - so I felt OK about getting out there and working out a bit.  Turns out, my hunch was right.  I didn't want to overdo, but I felt pretty good.  I deliberately left the iPod at home so that I could focus more on pace and form.  I was slow, yes.  And I did walk the last downhill because I was starting to feel that pesky IT band.  But I ran for 35 minutes and honey, that's better 'n 20.

So I guess that means I am healing? Well, almost.  I am having some stiffness in my knee which has me a bit worried, but I'll do a little NSAID and some ice and I should be good to go....I hope.

I have put off making a follow-up appointment with the physical therapist and I don't really know why.  It might be denial (I can do this on my own), but I really need to get back in there and let him have a look at my form.  Besides, he promised to train me for the LA Marathon! ;-)
