Women's Running Shoes; Function for Every Form

Every day I talk to woman runners on a whole variety of topics.  One thing seems pretty clear to me; at any given time, there are a whole lot of us healing from injuries.

You wouldn’t think that doing something that comes so naturally to human beings would cause this much trouble, but as we push ourselves harder, sh*t happens, as they say.

There’s always a pretty active debate on the subject of shoes and how much they decrease (or contribute to) injury.  Everybody seems to be pretty loyal to their shoe brands and a lot of people buy multiple pairs of favorite shoes at one time, having anticipated the shoe marketers’ habit of changing a pinch of this and a dash of that on running shoes every spring and fall.

I know several runners who are suffering from an injury similar to my own, and we recently had a rather lively debate over which shoes function best for each running form. There is a tendency to want a quick fix to a problem and we are all seeking that fix in a shoe change.  Alas, if only it were that easy!

Some of us swear by Asics stability technology.  Others wouldn’t run in anything but Nike (Nike+ addiction aside.)  Here’s a rather informal line up of several shoe manufacturers’ lines; the prices I show here are average MSRP.
