It was just a few weeks ago that we were all sitting around talking about marathons and ultras and how crazy you'd have to be to try a 100K.
Given the fact that I am down and out with this injury and missing running so much I could puke, I started searching the Internet for solace, and there I definitely found it. It's Meghan's Blog; Meghan Arbogast's blow by blow accounts of a 47 year old woman who is, by any standards, and extraordinary athlete and an inspiration to us all.
I was particularly enthralled by her split by split account of her running of the Twin-Cities marathon. I still can't figure out how she is able to give such a detailed and enthralling account of her experiences while running, but I guess she's been doing it a really long time.
I am completely convinced that there are people on the planet that are made to run...natural runners like my friend Heather whose lung capacity far exceeds anyone's I know and whose body seems to deliver oxygenated blood to her muscles like a steam train. Folks, I am not one of them.
It's funny, but I really don't feel bested by all of this, I feel inspired to heal and get back to training as soon as possible. OK, I may never be able to run a 6 minute mile, but the joy I feel going down the road is the shared experience we all have - I'll be back soon!
