If you read the statistics, it seems as though a lot of runners start out by participating in a "benefit" running event - whether it be a marathon, a 10K - whatever. For me, it's a whole different experience having to put out the fact that I am running a marathon to raise money for a great cause (AIDS Project LA). I realize that running has always been a very personal experience for me and it's really wierd and different to "come out" as a runner and actually talk about how I feel about this sport to a lot of people. The reactions have been really funny. I have had a lot of people say "you're crazy" - but it only makes me want to train more! It is kinda scary though. What I want to know is how do you overcome your fear? Has anyone else ever had these feelings?
