Ok ladies, I did it. My very first race, half marathon in approximately 2:38 and now I know what NOT TO DO in the days leading up to such an event, even just a half! The Not to dos will be in my next post as I find that they were the reason I ended up with approximately 3 miles of fast walking interlaced with sprints from mile 9 to 11ish. Ouch, well, a lesson is a blessing.
The morning was crisp and beautiful in the heart of Beverly Hills. You couldn’t have asked for better weather or a more beautiful CLEAN run in LA. I am in awe of my comrades BMoore and MisterMeener who really showed me what it takes to run the distance. Bathing in their post race spirit and their pride in my completion made for such a dear Sunday morning.
As for gear, My Nike+ Sport Kit and iPod did their job and while I did not have a paperclip for the ear-bud cords, simply looping it through my t-shirt sleeve worked just fine. My feet never complained nor did any of my clothing. Speaking of which I wore the new Traxee T shirt all weekend including race day and found lots of women interested in what we are doing here at Traxee!
Below is a clip I took of myself upon waking up from my post race nap, in fact I had planned to keep you up to date with my training for this marathon with at least a weekly vid. I will try to do that for this next training session. Remember this isn’t pretty ;), and for some reason it sounds like I have a retainer in! Ha. Oh, and the camera is all shakey...because I'm holding it...I'll find a tri-pod ;)
