I consider myself lucky in the fact that my BF is in great shape and can offer to accompany me on training runs now that the sun disappears so early! At the beginning of the summer running with him was painful, now I surpass him in endurance at a comfortable pace and that deserves a pat on the back ☺. Today I pulled out a maintenance run and could have kept going, but wanted to ease back in after more than four days of being ‘off track.’
Oh, you know what? When you run with someone, it is inevitable that they will want to talk and for a solitary runner like myself I thought this might be annoying, I mean no iPod, and certainly no self talk. However, I got to try something new, running and being able to comfortably carry on a conversation! I would have not been able to do that when I first started training! A general rule of thumb is that one should be able to comfortably carry on a conversation at your basic training pace. Oh yeah.
Don’t get me wrong, “I’m a loner Dottie, a rebel” – Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.
