This morning's 9 mile training run was perfect. I admit that I felt a little intimidated as I headed out the door this morning. But what I confirmed was that if I keep my pace - not start too fast and really mete out the effort over the miles, I can definitely go the distance.
I think this is part of the head trip I need to overcome...I am somewhat afraid of getting caught up in everyone else's pace and starting too fast when I run the race in two weeks. I need to let that go, "memorize" what it feels like to run at a comfortable starting pace and stick with it.
Fact is that I am a pretty slow runner, but experience has taught me that if I hold back at the start, I can summon my "kick" at the end and finish strong.
Anybody have any tricks for keeping your own pace?
