When Kara Goucher beat rivals Shalane Flanagan and Jen Rhines in the final turn of the women's 5000m in Eugene earlier this month, she won my heart.
A perennial runner-up, Goucher earned her spot in Bejiing in the 10,000m, and as far as I'm concerned, she's the one to watch in August. Not only is this woman a fighter who's got her strategy down pat - you've also gotta admire her for exposing her life for millions to see these last many months (Keeping Up with the Gouchers). Yeah, OK, they're probably paying her big bucks, but c'mon, would you allow cameras into YOUR home, training routines and relationship with your husband? Don't answer that.
Anyway, I am really anticipating seeing the women run in China...anyone want to take me up on a little friendly bet on Goucher?
