Keep Hydrated This Summer: Drink Water by the Wristful?

Keep Hydrated This Summer: Drink Water by the Wristful? by Betty

Ok, I just found a really groovy little gadget; actually it’s a Swiggies.  Forget the fanny packs and waist-huggers, why not strap some water to your wrist? Swiggies claims their wristbands cool you to prevent from overheating and together hold 11oz of H2O. I have never used one, it does look like 70’s brand marketing complete with the ‘As Seen On TV’ logo and a gal with a leotard up her backside! But hey, have to share this stuff…anyone ever try this? I had just commented in the 3G iPhone post on how it is now that everything you need fits in the palm of your hand except water!

Swiggies are $9.99 (of course) and you can have your logo printed on them oh and hey, don’t forget, you can put them in the dishwasher! ;-)

Any thoughts on this BMoore?

Traxee user Betty Oh, so people actually use these?! I thought I found a fluke. What you are saying about weight and distribution makes complete sense..I know that I am a baby skateboarder and when I throw on a backpack or try to carry something, my chi is all over the place! I have not really run long enough yet, to experience a real need to carry water...this girl is still in camel mode! Thanks B...I knew you would have something on this.

Traxee user bmoore This is really interesting...love the 70s marketing - the only thing she needs is one of those "Jane Fonda Workout" sweate headbands! More to the point I have a couple of thoughts. The water on your arms is going to feel really heavy (like carrying weights while you're running) which changes the way you run (balance/form). Wearing your water low and/or on your back is generally more condusive to proper running form. In the end, I think it really is a matter of preference...I see lots of runners carrying those hand-held water bottles.
