3G iPhone. Your Lifestyle Companion: Picture This

3G iPhone. Your Lifestyle Companion: Picture This by Betty

As runners, whether on race day or out on our daily, you have plenty of stuff that you opt to leave at home for the sake of a hands-free, bulge-less run.  So, what camera might you carry if you want to capture your run for a blog or catch the faces of friends on race day, perhaps immortalize crossing the finish line?

Your phone! While it may not take the best pictures (or maybe yours does!), most of you are probably already carrying your iPhone, Blackberry, or any of the others that offer to double as your music device, not to mention being able to call for help should the need arise.  With the aforementioned phones, not only can you capture, you can instantly send your photos via e-mail or MMS to friends and family.

On that note…many of you are excited for the 3G iPhone launching this Friday and why shouldn’t you be! For runners, the new 3G iPhone boasts Maps with GPS and the promise of the uber-est of applications/plug-ins, the Lifestyle Companion (of which we mentioned in an earlier post…definitely check this app out)!

New 3G iPhone Boasts

GPS Maps:

GPS current location
Find nearby amenities
Mobile friend finder services
Geo locate photos taken with iPhone
Interactive city guides

Camera:

2.0 Megapixels
Geo photo tagging
IPhone and third-party application integration

Lifestyle Companion for iPhone: (click for rundown on this not so far away app/plug-in)

*Not to mention a slew of its other technical specs.

So leave the bulky camera with your dad on the sidelines for race day, everything you need (except water!) now fits in the palm of your hand, one pocket, or strapped to your arm/leg!

Traxee user Sarah I couldn't even tell you what my phone is...I just have one. My daughter on the other hand I'm sure would love this, but uh...seems like an unnecessary luxury...I'm pretty free of all things when running...especially my phone! ;-)

Traxee user Karen I'm in line tomorrow. People are taking off work to get them! I will be giving my Razor phone and iPod to my sister...and this personal trainer Lifestyle Companion plug-in sounds pretty amazing! I am really excited about the GPS capabilities...I don't have one in my car...so for running alone and for driving around LA I think it will be really helpful. Thanks for the post and links!

Traxee user Betty Lets' put it this way. I have a Blackberry that I love as it functions as a super mini-laptop...pictures, music, e-mail...yadda yadda...which after purchasing my laptop was the biggest technological leap I had made since carrying a pager in Jr. High. GPS is great for some things, and other things it totally freaks me out...the big brother thing...like why would I want anybody knowing where I am at any given time? I love the idea of the Lifestyle Companion app. and the fact that a device has been created to lessen the amount of stuff in our bag or pocket. B...I do not even own an iPod!! If I get an iPhone, it probably will not be this year. There are just so many people all around me that will be in line Friday morning to pick it up that I figure there is quite a buzz going. What about you (other) B? you love your iPod, but like me, you seem to have apprehension when it comes to 'big brother' stuff, which I can definitely see APPLE being a mjor arm in! ????? Anyone else? Anybody else taking the dive?
