WoW…WoW…WoW. Perhaps, had I a treadmill when the babes were young I could have jumped on…keeping up a running regimen…eeemmm No. So, this amazing woman, in her meritorious efforts, must be recognized and applauded. Boulet while on the Olympic path not only maintains but indulges in a family life, of which is dominated by a very supportive 3-year-old son, Owen. Earning her chance to run in Beijing by placing 2nd at the April 20 U.S. Olympic trials marathon in Boston in a PR of 2:30:19 is no small hurdle for even the unattached female.
I can safely say that had there been a treadmill in the corner of my living room, I would have thought of a million reasons to banish it to time out…just for looking at what a perfect mess I had become!
Originally from Communist Poland in the 1980’s, Boulet earned a scholarship to run for Cal State 1991 and was then granted U.S. citizenship in 2001. Her spirit is indicative of one who has overcome times of scarcity. “It’s all a dream come true, Coming from a different country and having the opportunity to do whatever I wanted to do is pretty amazing. I just tried to grab the opportunities, and this is one of them.”
