Buying new running shoes is one of my most dreaded chores. It should be a happy time. You know, new beginnings and all. But for me, it's totally stressful.
Every time I buy a new pair of shoes I swear I an NOT going to buy another pair of Nikes. What do I have against Nike? It's not the hideous accusations of unfair labor practices in their factories - though that really does get me. It's this: every single time I find a pair of Nikes I love, they change the style, the fit, the price, something...so I can never buy the same shoe twice. Plus, Nike shoes seem to be getting shorter. Does anyone else have this problem? Maybe I'm just getting old.
Anyway, like I said, I walked in the store with the full intention of buying a perfectly good pair of Asics. I tried them on. I listened to the salesman's pitch about how great they were. I even ran the treadmill in the Asics. But in the end, what did I buy? Nike Air Max Moto, a shoe I wore a couple of years ago.
I guess everyone has a personal shoe style. For me, I like the firm ,stable feel of Nike shoes and the wide footbed, and the well-fitting heel. Maybe I'll never get off the Nike trail...but I'm gonna pledge to try in another 250 miles.
