Running From Nike...NOT!

Buying new running shoes is one of my most dreaded chores.  It should be a happy time.  You know, new beginnings and all.  But for me, it's totally stressful.

Every time I buy a new pair of shoes I swear I an NOT going to buy another pair of Nikes.  What do I have against Nike?  It's not the hideous accusations of unfair labor practices in their factories - though that really does get me.  It's this: every single time I find a pair of Nikes I love, they change the style, the fit, the price, something...so I can never buy the same shoe twice.  Plus, Nike shoes seem to be getting shorter.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Maybe I'm just getting old.

Anyway, like I said, I walked in the store with the full intention of buying a perfectly good pair of Asics.  I tried them on.  I listened to the salesman's pitch about how great they were.  I even ran the treadmill in the Asics.  But in the end, what did I buy?  Nike Air Max Moto, a shoe I wore a couple of years ago.

I guess everyone has a personal shoe style.  For me, I like the firm ,stable feel of Nike shoes and the wide footbed, and the well-fitting heel.  Maybe I'll never get off the Nike trail...but I'm gonna pledge to try in another 250 miles.

Traxee user MCoop There's a great store in Thousand Oaks (http://www.roadrunnersports.com/) where they specialize in running shoes, and do a personalized fit and recommendation. I was trying to get away from the brand, but after their assessment, I ended up right back in a pair of Adidas.

Traxee user Roadrunner It's like trying to avoid buying coffee at Starbucks, they always suck you back in! Okay so I'm looking for a good pair of running shoes. My problem with shoes in the past has been that my toes feel a little squeezed (too many years of Doc Martins?). Any suggestions?
