I met Holistic Health Practitioner Nancy Sacks, D.H.M. about three years ago and I guess you could say that I have considered her my “training partner” ever since. During a recent casual conversation I mentioned to her the fact that I was suffering from a sudden onset of Achilles Tendonitis and without batting an eye she looked at me and said, “You need to increase your magnesium.”
OK, I thought, I’m ready to give anything a try. After 3 days of using Calm from Natural Vitality, my tendonitis symptoms were completely gone. Amazed, I asked Nancy to tell us a little bit more about magnesium, and why this element is so essential for athletes:
Very few people are aware of how vital magnesium is for overall health. After oxygen, water and basic food – magnesium happens to be one of the most important elements needed by the body. It is involved in over 300 different biochemical reactions necessary for your body to function properly.
The deal is this: magnesium relaxes muscles, while calcium contracts the muscles. Low magnesium levels will cause muscle spasms and much more.
Here’s a list of a few symptoms resulting from magnesium deficiency:
Insomnia
Fatigue
Headaches
Anxiety
Muscle Spasms
Body Aches
High Blood pressure
Constipation
Bone Loss
Depression
Irregular Heartbeat
Cramps
Irritability
Cravings
And the list goes on….
There was a time when we got enough magnesium from our food – but since the 1950’s that just isn’t the case anymore! That’s why I recommend supplementing your diet with magnesium. Ideally we should get a minimum of 350 mg daily, but feel free to experiment with up to 700 mg if you are having symptoms related to low magnesium.
The most absorbable form is Magnesium Citrate, and my favorite way to take it is in a powder form before bed.
Natural Vitality makes the best product, known as Calm. There are a few varieties of this powder, one being Calm plus Calcium and Cal/Mag. Once you start with this…it becomes very apparent very quickly how much better you will feel. It is one healthy addiction!
Yours in Health,
Nancy
I have no idea if this product will help any injured Traxees out there, but all I can tell you guys is that it definitely worked for me!
