COMPLETED my FIRST 1/2 MARATHON

COMPLETED my FIRST 1/2 MARATHON by runner4life

Hello Traxee's, so early this morning, set in beautiful Myrtle Beach, I ran AND completed my FIRST 1/2 marathon!!!! The feeling i felt while i was running was just exhuberating!!!! The weather was PERFECT running weather, around 60degrees. Just before the race we had a show put on by the Medievil Times, the National Anthem was sang,we lined up behind the pace markers and then.....the horn sounded and we were off!!!!! I tried to not look at my garmin too much during the race, i looked at it MAYBE 5 times during the whole race. I had lined up behind the 9:01 to 10min pace.....well, needless to say I ran faster than that. I averaged between 8:30-9:00!!!! I was totally surprised at myself, I guess running with a large group of people really helped. As the raced was nearing an end, we were running on the board walk, with a beautiful view of the ocean. In my head I was like"where is the finish line, i know i saw it on the boardwalk yesterday?" then after i thought that, bam...i saw the flags of the finishline...so i sped up my pace.My husband, son tony and baby girl alannah were near the finishline taking pictures, I smiled and waved and finished my sprint to the finish. My goal in the beginning was to finish in 2hours.....i finished at 1:57:56!!!!!! My first 1/2 marathon!!!!!!!!

Traxee user runner4life It was a pretty flat course. There was one overpass we had to run over, and i THOUGHT I was going to slow down too much, but as i was running i noticed that having a group of ppl around me helped, and motivated me to stay at my pace or faster. If you ever are back this way, you should run it. They are having another one next year. As for when I will be running my next one......I'm undecided at the moment....maybe the ShamRock'n'Roll...The one thing i REALLY want to try is a mud run...Do you know of any that are in NC or in a close state???

Traxee user bmoore Awesome, Awesome AWESOME! You rock! I always wanted to run Myrtle Beach when I lived in North Carolina. It looked like a fun, fast and flat course, and after "going to the beach" for years I knew those folks would know how to put on a fun race. Good for you not being a slave to your Garmin and listening to how you felt throughout the race. I am SO pleased for you. He he, when your next one? ;-)
