barefoot running

So yesterday after I ran my 2.5 miles, I got back to the track and I felt like running more. I've been wanting to try barefoot running so, I decided to take my shoes and socks off and run one lap around the track. All I can say is WOW what a difference it is. I naturally ran on my toes,or ball of my feet. I even TRIED to run heel to toe and it just did not feel right or comfortable. My pace was also faster than my usual 8:30pace. It was 7:41, I was impressed and plan on running barefoot more often. Has anyone else out there ran barefoot, and what are your takes?

Traxee user bmoore Ha! Cool - I love the Vibram Five-Fingers. I will be interested to hear about how running barefoot improves your performance going forward.

Traxee user runner4life Oh YES i am definitely going to make b-foot running part of my regular training. My husband has a pair of vibrams, so i'm also going to have to get me a pair of those!!!!

Traxee user bmoore Wow! This is amazing. I ran barefoot after completing my last long run of about 6 miles and I had the same experience. It's nearly impossible to heel strike when you're running barefoot. I wonder what other's experience has been? Do you think you are going to make b-foot part of your regular training?
